WELCOME TO ECUADOR: LET YOUR ADVENTURE BEGIN!

Day 1 10 Days Mainland Active Tour

We are excited to welcome you to Ecuador! As you embark on your journey, relax and enjoy a scenic 45-minute drive into Quito. While en route, you’ll receive a delightful overview of your trip’s itinerary, setting the tone for a memorable adventure.

Upon arrival and settling into your hotel, we recommend taking some time to explore the city and its unique cultural offerings. Quito, sitting at an elevation of 9,350 feet (2,850 m), is one of the highest cities in the world, and its breathtaking views are sure to impress.

Take a stroll through Plaza Foch, a bustling hub for shopping, dining, and people-watching. Head over to Parque Metropolitano Guangüiltagua, one of the largest urban parks in The Americas, and immerse yourself in its lush greenery and tranquil surroundings. For an even more spectacular view, hop on a cable car and journey to the top of Cruz Loma to see Quito’s skyline in all its glory.

We hope you thoroughly enjoy your first day in Ecuador, and we look forward to sharing many more adventures with you.

MINDO ADVENTURE

Day 2 10 Days Mainland Active Tour

To the northwest and as one of the nearby attractions of Quito, passing by the famous monument to the Middle of the World we have Mindo with its hot humid climate for being on the border between two regions; the Andes and the Ecuadorian coast. Its cloud forest is a place of life for many bird species; biologists, bird watchers, scientists, and adventurers visit it.

In our first visit will be to the Butterfly, then we will go up to the high part and practice canopy over the cloud forest, if we are lucky we will be able to see some types of birds flying next to us, after this extreme experience we will cross the Tarabita on the other side of the river and walk on a trail down to the river and swim. After this refreshing adventure, we return to the village to go to the artisan chocolate factory to learn about all its preparation processes.

MORNING ADVENTURE TO TELEFERICO CABLECAR

Day 3 10 Days Mainland Active Tour

This morning you will be able to hop on the cable car «Teleferico» which brings you up to 4.000 m on the Pichincha volcano, from where you can enjoy a spectacular view over the city and the surrounding mountains.

You will catch a breathtaking sight of Quito City and the Andean landscape (an open-sky day provides a great view of Antisana, Cotopaxi, and Cayambe and up to 13 volcanoes and summits around Quito).

When you are at the upper station you can do a little walk around the station, where you see the cafeteria and the viewpoint at the antennas which supply communication to Ecuador’s capital: Quito.

At the viewpoints located close to the cable car station, you see wooden signs that depict what volcanoes you can see.

If you want to, you can have a short walk, or just take some pictures from different viewpoints.

HIKING LA MICA LAGOON AT ANTISANA NATIONAL PARK

Day 4 10 Days Mainland Active Tour

This morning, head southeast from Quito to cross into Napo Province, home of the Reserva Ecologica Antisana (Antisana Ecological Reserve). The park gets its name from the snow-capped Antisana Volcano, but today you’ll be visiting a different kind of landmark: Laguna de la Mica (Mica Lagoon). Hike to the high-altitude lake following trails of varying difficulty; remember that hiking at high altitudes is tougher than hiking at sea level! Along the way, you might spot the wildlife that calls the area around the lake home, like deer, condors, and rabbits.

After your hike, return to Quito.

EXPLORING AND KAYAKING AT QUILOTOA LAGOON

Day 5 10 Days Mainland Active Tour

Wake up early in the morning, after a delicious breakfast at your hotel, you will visit Quilotoa Lagoon, which is a blue-green volcanic crater lake, that sits in the rugged Andean countryside.

Your expert guide will lead you through tropical forests to one of the area’s most beautiful lagoons. Make stops at a quiet village and local markets as part of this incredible day away from the city. Once you arrive at this magical place, you have the option to walk along the crater’s rim to enjoy the splendid view or hike down a path to the crater lake. After about 45 minutes of hiking down the Lagoon, you arrive at the crater. From where the water shimmers in another, greener color and kayaks will be waiting for you to explore the lake and enjoy the beautiful weather.

If you wish, there is a jetty there that you can walk on, or you can just sit on the beach and enjoy the view instead. The return can become a bit longer, so you have the option to rent a mule for the uphill hike.

When you arrive in town, take a short hike to one of the better-known waterfalls in the area, El Pailón del Diablo (the Devil’s Cauldron). Here, the water cascades 265 feet (81 m) down through the cloud forest. Then, head back toward Baños to check out its many Catholic churches, or visit the Casa del Arbol to soar on a swing placed at the edge of a mountain.

RAFTING PASTAZA RIVER

Day 8 10 Days Mainland Active Tour

Will begin with an introduction to kayaking to discuss the equipment and general safety guidelines.

Once ready the boat will push off from shore and within moments you will find yourself being drenched in the first rapids, depending on the climate it can be in the high or low part of the Pastaza River. After this first shot of adrenaline, the fun continues as you crash through walls of the river and drift silently along sheer river cliffs.

During the trip, you’ll stop on an expansive beach by the side of the river for a delicious picnic lunch that includes fresh tropical fruits and is served with soft drinks, juice, and water.

At the end of the adventure, your guide will share some photos and videos as a courtesy.

TREKKING TO CHIMBORAZO BASECAMP

Day 9 10 Days Mainland Active Tour

Early in the morning, drive through valleys and farming villages to reach the Chimborazo Volcano, the highest mountain in Ecuador (6310m). Its summit is the furthest point from the centre of the earth on the entire planet. On a clear day, the majestic peak of Chimborazo dominates the view for many kilometres.

Visiting this spectacular national park includes a short hike to reach the elevation of 5000m, where the glacier begins. Keep your eyes peeled for the animals that inhabit this volcanic climate – such as Andean condor, caracara birds, hummingbirds, and timid vicuñas. Once extinct in Ecuador, vicuñas were reintroduced into the wild and are now protected; they are a relation of alpacas and llamas.
